Warfare Prayer
There has been a shift.
A transformation in our view of our identity in Christ.
A stepping into our authority as sons and daughters of our mighty God.
Our prayers have changed since coming to Costa Rica!
Four mornings a week our squad gathers for devotions with a man named Richard. He calls these times SWAT Training: Spiritual Warfare And Tactics Training.
Richard listens to Holy Spirit for direction on what to share each morning. Then he comes with his notes and willingness to have conversation and receive questions. If Holy Spirit does not share something specific, he comes with an availability to listen and speak on topics as they come up.
Our Squad had been feeling an emotional heaviness and the spiritual darkness of Jaco. This video shows what we did in response to this unrest.
We have been able to sleep better and operate with greater awareness!
So what is Warfare Prayer? It is acknowledging God’s power and securing an area from the enemy. Here is an example of a Warfare Prayer as I am typing out this blog:
Abba, thank you for always being with me. Thank you for the opportunity to share a testimony of your faithfulness to our squad with others. I claim this ground and table as holy ground. I plant your banner of love right in the middle. Let it be known that I am yours. I pray for your wall of fire to surround me, from the earth to the heavens. Thank you for your protection from all evil and distraction. Send your angels to clear the area. Spirits of inadequacy, fear, and pride I say be gone from my mind and heart. Let me hear your voice. Awaken my spirit to hear and delight in obeying you. I trust you to give me the words to type and share. Conceal me from the enemy. Blind him to what is happening now, for your glory. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen!
Here are the steps of a Warfare Prayer!
1. Claim the Ground
Earth, the place where we operate from, is enemy territory. Our flag flying over us is Jesus’ LOVE! We are easily identified as adopted children of God.
Song of Songs 2:4 Let him lead me to the banquet hall,
and let his banner over me be love.
2. Establish Protection
Zechariah 2:5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
3. Remove the Enemy
Luke 10:19-20 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
4. Establish Communication with High Command
Song of Songs 2:14
My dove in the clefts of the rock,
in the hiding places on the mountainside,
show me your face,
let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet,
and your face is lovely.
Psalm 91:2
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Hebrews 3:7-11
So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’
HUA stands for Heard, Understood, Acknowledge. We want to hear correctly and operate in obedience.
5. Put up Camouflage
Psalm 27:5
For in the day of trouble
he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
and set me high upon a rock.
Psalm 31:20
In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from all human intrigues;
you keep them safe in your dwelling
from accusing tongues.
Colossians 3:3
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
If you are a Christian, do you believe you have the ability, calling, and freedom to pray a Warfare Prayer? Is there a place where you need to pray a Warfare Prayer or ask for God’s mighty protection?
Please let me know if you have questions about Warfare Prayer. Thank you for continuing to pray for I-Squad as we serve in Jaco, Costa Rica! Your prayers for direction and protection are needed and felt!

Wow! The growth I see in you Rachel! And the video was a huge blessing…the singing… the message!
